How Federal Work-Study works at Texas Tech
A Federal Work-Study offer lets you earn wages in an eligible job. Review the offer in Raiderlink, apply for a job separately, and confirm that the hiring department has arranged your work-study authorization.

Check whether your aid package includes work-study
TTU lists a FAFSA, at least half-time enrollment, and a financial aid offer accepted in Raiderlink among its regular-term requirements. Open the Award Offer for the correct academic year. If Federal Work-Study isn’t listed, use the eligibility contact on TTU’s employment page. You can apply for other student jobs while you wait.
Apply for a position and confirm authorization
Search the Red Raider Student Employment Center and check whether the posting requires or prefers work-study. Tell the hiring department if you have an offer. Once you’re hired, the department contacts Financial Aid to apply your authorization. If you’re looking for a regular part-time position, the Career Center links to additional campus job boards.

Budget from wages you expect to earn
TTU pays work-study earnings through payroll for the time you work. The earnings go to you and don’t automatically pay your tuition bill. Ask the supervisor about your hourly rate and expected hours. If you’re nearing your award limit, check with Financial Aid about remaining eligibility and ask your employer whether you can keep working through regular payroll.
