How to withdraw from Texas Tech
If you plan to leave every class this term, submit an online withdrawal request through the Registrar. Clear any holds and check your term’s withdrawal deadline, tuition charges and aid before you submit.
In this guide
Use the form for zero enrolled hours
Use the Registrar’s withdrawal form if you are leaving all of your classes. If you are keeping at least one class, use the course drop process for the classes you want to leave.
Clear any administrative holds first. Students who already finished a class in a shorter session within the term should ask their associate academic dean about options. Student athletes and international students have additional clearance steps.
Check the deadline and the amount due
For the main Spring 2027 term, April 19 is the last day to withdraw. The academic calendar says tuition and fees are due in full at that point. For an earlier date or another session, compare the calendar and the Student Business Services refund schedule for your term.
A W recorded for withdrawal carries no GPA penalty under OP 34.05. The tuition refund follows a separate timetable.

Check aid and campus housing first
If you receive aid or live in a TTU residence hall, Student Business Services directs you to contact the applicable offices before withdrawing. Financial Aid recalculates federal aid after withdrawal based on the days you were enrolled. Ask what repayment you could owe for the date you are considering.
