Academic probation at Texas Tech
Start with the standing in your associate academic dean’s notice and check both your TTU term and cumulative institutional GPAs. If you are on warning or probation, Texas Tech requires an advising appointment to plan academic recovery.

Check your official standing
A cumulative institutional GPA below 2.0 can put an undergraduate on Academic Warning. A student on warning whose term and cumulative institutional GPAs are both below 2.0 at the end of the next attended term moves to Academic Probation.
Find your grades in your own Raiderlink record and use the dean’s notice to identify the standing and next steps that apply to you.
Make a plan before setting your course load
Schedule the required appointment with your academic or success advisor. Bring the courses you struggled with so you can discuss grade replacement and a recovery plan. Students on warning or probation need the academic dean’s prior approval to enroll in more than 16 hours.
Know what the next term can change
For a student on probation, term and cumulative institutional GPAs both below 2.0 at the end of the next attended term lead to Academic Suspension and cancellation of future registration. If you withdraw during that next term, probation continues until Texas Tech can consider additional completed coursework.
