How to request in-state tuition residency at Texas Tech
If your tuition record shows nonresident and you want TTU to reconsider it, start with the Core Residency Questionnaire. The office, supporting evidence, and cutoff depend on your student status and the term you’re requesting.

Start with the office that handles your record
Currently enrolled undergraduates request the questionnaire from the residency staff listed by Undergraduate Admissions. Former Tech undergraduates returning after two or more regular semesters away submit it in RaiderConnect under Resources & Forms. Graduate students use Graduate Admissions and its Residency Questionnaire.
Gather proof for the residency route you claim
For a domicile claim, TTU reviews whether you or the parent you depend on established and maintained Texas domicile during the 12 months before the term’s census date. Admissions lists examples such as employment records or, for a claim through a parent, a tax return showing dependency. TTU also lists a Texas high school route with separate rules. Use the requirements and document list Admissions gives you for your case.
Submit before the class-day cutoff
For undergraduate reclassification, TTU asks for the questionnaire before the 10th class day in a regular term and lists the second class day as the summer cutoff. Residency changes for that term can’t be made after census. Use the academic calendar for your term and leave time for Admissions to ask for supporting documents. Graduate policy requires the questionnaire and supporting evidence before the official census date.
