How to join and plan for the Texas Tech Honors College
Use the Honors College application for your student status, then plan the Honors coursework alongside your major. Current Texas Tech students can apply after their first semester.

Choose the application for your status
First-year applicants can apply to the Honors College while applying to Texas Tech. Transfer applicants have a separate route. If you attended a recognized honors program elsewhere, ask which honors credits may count once admitted. Current students can apply after completing their first semester, and admission is competitive.
Map the Honors hours and seminars
The Honors College tracking sheet maps a minimum of 24 Honors credit hours. That total includes two Honors seminars for the Honors designation. Review the tracking sheet with your major advisor to see where Honors classes also fit degree requirements.

Distinguish Honors College from Latin honors
Arts & Sciences lists separate Texas Tech GPA and residency criteria for Latin honors at graduation. If you want the Honors College’s Highest Honors designation, ask how to fit its additional six-hour thesis or project into your plan.
